Thao & the Get Down Stay Down Performing Live at Emo’s 8/5

Alternative folk-rock group Thao & the Get Down Stay Down are going on tour this summer in honor of their latest album release and are making a stop in Austin. They will be playing a show at Emo’s on Wednesday, August 5th. Doors to the venue will be opening that night at 7pm with the show to begin an hour later at 8. Advance general admission tickets are now up for $23.

San Francisco-based Thao & the Get Down Stay Down is comprised of members Thao Nguyen and Adam Thompson. With their quirky indie style and punk rock swagger, their sound is both fresh and exciting every time. They released their debut album We Brave Bee Stings and All in 2008 and have put out five albums in total. Nguyen and company took a break from making music after 2016’s A Man Alive during which Nguyen got married then returned this year along with Thompson to release their latest album Temple earlier this month. Temple is a compilation of tracks that dig deep into the life of Nguyen, exploring aspects of her life that she opens up about in a freeing form of self-expression accompanied by Western sounding guitar riffs, prominent drum beats and glittering synths.
