Mike Polizze has been a long-established member of the Philadelphia alternative music scene, playing in bands like Purling Hiss and Birds of Maya and performing alongside contemporaries like War on Drugs and Kurt Vile. Today, he’s announced his first solo album, a mostly-acoustic affair that includes guest appearances by Kurt Vile. In addition to announcing the new album which is called Long Lost Solace Find and is out July 31 on Paradise of Bachelors, he’s released a new song “Revelation.”
Kurt Vile appears on five of the album’s 12 songs: “Bainmarie,” “Revelation,” “Cheewawa,” “Sit Down” and “Wishing Well.” It was recorded at Philadelphia’s Uniform Recording during 2018 and 2019.
Polizze got his start in 2009 with his first release under the Purling Hiss moniker, a band that blended fuzzed out rock riffs with melodic harmonies. He gradually turned his focus more and more towards the melodic side of his songwriting, releasing albums as Purling Hiss on Woodsist and Drag City. In 2015 Polizze played his first solo show, opening for the Weather Station.
