ODIE was born in Montreal, raised subsequently in Toronto, Canada, and then the Bay Area since age 12. There, he drew from many musical inspirations that he collected during his childhood, including Fela Kuti, Kid Cudi, and Coldplay, quite an eclectic mix of artists. His inspirations eventually led him to pursue his passion for music as well, just like his idols did. His love for his Nigerian culture, his understanding of his immigrant parents’ struggles, and his love for the pure expression that could be conveyed through music culminated in his initial releases on SoundCloud and eventually his first project, Analogue, in 2018. The project produced hits like “Story” and “North Face” that eventually put ODIE into the spotlight.
Since then, ODIE’s music has been featured on a number of popular playlists, films, television series, and more. The 21-year-old’s rise is just gaining momentum. But on October 3rd, ODIE will be coming back to the Bay Area to perform at The Independent, an iconic music venue in San Francisco. Joining him is another up-and-coming artist, UMI, who is known for her smooth and hypnotizing vocals. Be sure to catch ODIE at The Independent and follow his rise as an artist.
