Texas native Matthew Dear has been making his unique form of experimental electro pop music since 1999. Also known under aliases Audion, False and Jabberjaw, his style ranges from hypnotic dance beats to dreamy and chill techno with vocals that have been compared to David Bowie’s. Matthew Dear released his debut album Leave Luck to Heaven in 2003 featuring the much-loved track “Dog Days” and kickstarted his successful music career shortly after. He has opened for prominent bands such as Depeche Mode and Interpol and has toured extensively as a highly in-demand DJ.
In 2017, Matthew Dear worked with indie pop duo Tegan and Sara on his track “Bad Ones and released the dark and moody song “Modafinil Blues”. The latter was included on his latest album Bunny which was released in the fall of 2018, highlighting his shapeshifting avant pop sound.
