When it comes to world music there is perhaps no group more important than the Gipsy Kings. This grammy award winning band combines the world of flamenco pop with brisk melodies and a riveting multi-pronged guitar ensemble. Powered by the vocals of frontman Nicolas Reyes, this band thrives on the marriage of traditional Latin songs and modern pop sensibilities.
This band is coming up on their 45th anniversary as a group, and it’s no wonder that Los Angeles is one of their favorite places to play. When their music was first making it across the Atlantic, it was Los Angeles and New York that clamped onto tracks like “Bomboleo” and “Djobi Djoba” and never let go.
Because of the incredible amount of love shown to this group by the city of Los Angeles they’re returning the favor with a thrilling show at the Greek Theatre on 8/15. Located near the Griffith Observatory, the Greek Theater is arguably the best venue in LA. Nearly every seat in the theatre is fantastic, providing incredible views of the performer and the stage. To top it off the venue is right in the middle of a forest, making for a cool, calm experience even on the warmest of Los Angeles evenings.
When a combination like this comes along, it demands your attention. Be sure to get your tickets to this exciting event and make sure to bring your dancing shoes.
