Remember all the bands you used to listen to during your angsty teenage days? Some of those bands may have even helped you appreciate music as a whole a little more. I think we can all agree Armor For Sleep was one of them. With thought provoking lyrics and a melodic post hardcore sound, Armor For Sleep made a breakthrough in the emo music scene. The band formed out of New Jersey in 2001 and released their debut album Dream to Make Believe in 2003 and quickly accumulated a loyal fanbase of young souls who would come to all their shows and sing every song.
It was 2005 when Armor For Sleep released What To Do When You Are Dead, their second album that explores the concept of life and death and the art of finding oneself through all the chaos of the world as an adolescent human being. The album features the tracks “Car Underwater” and “The Truth About Heaven” along with others all tied to a story seemingly being told by a ghost who has experienced death.
Armor For Sleep is now going on tour this summer in celebration of the 15 year anniversary of What To Do When You Are Dead, their most celebrated work. The guys will be hitting up Austin’s Barracuda on Friday, July 24th, a postponement from the original date in April. Doors to the venue will open at 8:00pm and the band will take the stage an hour later at 9. Unfortunately tickets are already sold out so if you were lucky enough to snag one for yourself, you’re in for a profound and nostalgic experience!
