Swiss extreme metal band Triptykon have announced plans to release their new live album Requiem (Live At Roadburn 2019) featuring The Netherlands’ The Metropole Orkest on May 15th. The album comes from Triptykon’s live set at Roadburn 2019.
Requiem is a project that is 30 years in the making; the album, which contains three separate parts, was partly finished in the late 1980’s as part of the group Celtic Frost. However, before the final third of the album could be completed, the band disbanded due to differences in opinion over the recording of the album. The original release was expected as early as 1998.
Tom G Warrior, the leader of Celtic Frost, has plans to finish the album with Triptykon, and decided that Roadburn 2019 would be the perfect venue in which to unveil the completed project for the first time. “The three parts of the Requiem will therefore be performed by Triptykon at Roadburn 2019, with full classical orchestration, congregated specifically for this occasion by Florian Magnus Maier, who is our esteemed classical collaborator and arranger in this project, and whose patience with me appears to be limitless,” Fischer said in a statement. “We feel very proud and deeply honored to be joined in this endeavor by the renowned Dutch Metropole Orkest.”
The official lineup of the recorded album consists of Tom G Warrior on vocals and guitar, Hannes Grossman on drums/percussion, Vanja Slajk on vocals and bass, and V. Santura on backup vocals and guitar, with a special appearance from Safa Heraghi as a co-lead vocalist. Check out the album art and the track list below:
