Look I’m sure we’re all sort of losing our minds right now, so maybe we should listen to something a little more calming. If we’re going to be stuck inside, it could help to have some introspective or calming music to keep us all grounded while we attempt to pretend that everything will be fine. Luckily, we’ve got a veritable smorgasbord of artists aiming to fill that gap, and when we’re eventually allowed outside yet again, some of those artists will be coming together at the Hollywood Bowl.
While each of these artists, Andrew Bird, Iron and Wine, Calexico and Mandolin Orange, are all special in their own right, I’d like to take time to focus on the first two. Andrew Bird has long been a cornerstone of the indie rock scene, releasing fifteen studio albums since 1996. Since that time he’s released numerous classic records and has become a legend in the indie scene as a result of his unique blend of quantity and quality.
Iron and Wine’s success is largely based on their 2004 record, Our Endless Numbered Days, which saw them embracing a folk sound that would define the indie rock of the 2000s alongside groups like Bon Iver and Mumford and Sons. They too are one of the more prolific groups, and often release EP’s in between albums to sate the curiosity of their fans.
This incredible group of artists are aiming to be at the Hollywood Bowl on 6/28, so don’t miss out on a relaxing post-quarantine evening at one of LA’s most famous locales.
