Joywave Performing Live at Empire Control Room & Garage 9/26

Indie rock band Joywave will be going on tour in support of new album Possession starting this summer and are coming to Austin’s Empire Garage on Friday, September 26th. This is an all-ages show with a $5 surcharge for minors. Doors to the venue open at 8pm and the music will begin with an opening performance by indie artist KennyHoopla. General admission tickets are $16.

Joywave formed in 2010 in Rochester, New York and released their first spacey mixtape 77777 a year later. In 2015 the band released their full-length debut How Do You Feel Now? featuring what would soon become alternative radio tracks “Now” and “Somebody New”. Joywave’s music is a unique mix of electronic danceable indie with a touch of punk rock that uniquely encompasses the emotional whirlwind of life but does so in an undeniably groovy way. Over the years Joywave has gone on tour with some of the best including The Killers, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Young the Giant and have made appearances at big festivals like Lollapalooza. The band’s latest album Possession came out just last month and embodies the concept of trying to understand society and those around us and the lack of control we ultimately have over the events that occur in our lives.

A live performance by Joywave is an energetic dance party embracing the art of being yourself and letting go, not to mention lead singer Daniel Ambruster’s quirky way of engaging with the audience is hard not to love. Catch Joywave at Empire Garage this September!
