FKA Twigs Takes over the Fox Pomona on 4/15

Few artists are capable of pushing boundaries while remaining accessible enough for the general public. So often the underground community is treated to excellent artists who can never fit into the public eye by virtue of their musical intensity. Groups like The Body and Full of Hell are simply too aggressive and strange to ever be appreciated outside of their small niche.

FKA Twigs is one of the rare artists who has managed to break through to the mainstream despite an incredibly strange aesthetic and a completely unorthodox sound palate. The choices that FKA Twigs has made on her songs are destined to echo throughout the future of pop music, and in some ways it already has. Since her debut record, we’ve seen artists like Charli XCX and Lorde incorporate stranger sounds into their music, and we’ve seen collaborators like Arca and Sophie break through to major venues and Coachella stages.

Speaking of Coachella stages and major venues, that’s exactly where we all expected FKA Twigs to be this coming April. Of course, Coachella, like nearly every major event, has fallen victim to the current COVID-19 crisis. As of right now it seems that her Fox Theater show in Pomona, which was booked as part of the Coachella sideshows, is still scheduled to happen. Time will tell if it ends up moving forward, but if it does those who attend will be treated to one of the best shows of their lives.
