Khruangbin Performing Live at Stubb’s BBQ 5/29 & 5/30

Houston based soul funk trio Khruangbin are coming to Stubb’s BBQ on Saturday, May 30th! The tickets for the show went pretty quickly, so due to popular demand, they will be playing another show the day before on the 29th for fans who weren’t able to get tickets for their original show date. These events are for all ages and doors will open at 7:00pm on both nights then the show will start an hour later at 8:00pm. The advanced general admission tickets for the 29th are currently going for $37.50 so jump on those while you still can! You can also get them at the door for $42.50 if that’s more your style.

Khruangbin is formed by bassist Laura Lee, guitarist Mark Speer and drummer Donald “DJ”Johnson. If you’re wondering what that hard to pronounce band name actually means, it’s Thai for airplane, most fitting for their case of wanderlust. The well-traveled Texan trio’s music is mostly influenced by 60s and 70s Thai rock and funk as displayed on their debut 2015 album The Universe Smiles Upon You. They also possess an abundance of other influences like surf rock and Middle Eastern soul like what we hear in 2018’s Con Todo El Mundo. As of late, Khruangbin has been basking in the success of their EP Texas Sun, a 4-track compilation of songs featuring the soulful vocals of Leon Bridges. What an incredible collaboration! The EP was released earlier this year.

Khruangbin never seems to disappoint, so if you’re into the idea of smooth instrumental rock music mixed with elements of soul funk and modern psychedelia, this performance is definitely for you.
