Primus will be going on tour as a tribute to progressive rock legends Rush this summer. They will perform Rush’s classic album A Farewell to Kings in its entirety with an appearance at the Moody Theater for ACL Live. The show will be held on Friday, May 29th with special guests Wolfmother and The Sword. Doors to the theater will open at 5:30pm and the music is set to begin at 7:00pm. General admission tickets are sold out and as of now, limited platinum tickets are available for floor and balcony seating starting at $225.

Primus could best be described as funk metal and they kicked off their musical career in El Sobrante, California in 1984. Starting out on the underground side, Primus quickly gained mainstream recognition, building up a larger fanbase after their 1993 album Pork Soda debut was released. The weirdness was definitely embraced! Nine albums later and the band has decided to embark on a tribute tour for Rush which will span over 40 dates, even including a performance at Tennessee’s Bonnaroo Festival.

Rush’s A Farewell to Kings was their first album to make it to gold-selling status in the states filled with the composite lyrical style of the late Neil Peart and diverse guitar rhythms. The Canadian trio have basically become rock gods and their music has been widely embraced for over four decades. Now, we can all enjoy and reminisce as Primus takes us on a journey through Rush’s iconic Farewell to Kings. If you are a fan of either Rush or Primus, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss out on.
