The Baltimore duo of Jenn Wasner and Andy Stack make up the genius behind Wye Oak. Just coming off of announcing their JOIN tour, Wye Oak plans to perform with a newly expanded live band. Not only will they be performing songs from their Wye Oak catalogue; they will also be performing songs from the respective solo projects. On March 23rd, JOIN Wye Oak at the Independent with support of introspective lo-fi singer Hannah Read of Lomelda. Tickets are $23 in advance and $25 at the door. The doors open at 7:30 PM and the show begins at 8:00 PM.
Lomelda is a band that, at its core, consists of heartfelt songwriting and friendship. Their most recent release, M for empathy, takes us on a journey of what it means for Hannah Read to find peace within herself. Her album is decorated with tracks like “Talk”, a bare composition where Hannah’s vocals can stand out, and “M for Me”, a heartfelt track that confronts death. Wye Oak. just released three new songs entitled “Walk Soft”, “Fear of Heights” and “Fortune”; three tracks that are in line with their calming style. In regards to their individual solo project, Andy Starck’s Joyero and Jenn Wasner’s Flock of Dime are uniquely captivativing in their own way.
