A name change is usually a death sentence for a band, especially in the modern era. With the internet serving as the primary location people discover music, name recognition is everything. Thee Oh Sees are not so weak as to seem that mortal. Just last year they temporarily changed their name to OCS, and they have been known as Orinoka Crash Suite, Orange County Sound, The Ohsees, The Oh Sees, and Thee Oh Sees at various points throughout their careers.

Changing names is more than just a gimmick for Thee Oh Sees though. The prolific rock group has changed styles just as much as they’ve changed names and have played garage rock, noise rock, grunge, sludge rock and psychedelic to name only a few. Because of their varied output Thee Oh Sees have gained a diverse fan base who is willing to stick by their side no matter how wild their experiments get. This dedication allows them to freely experiment with sounds, keeping themselves fresh and exciting over the years.

It’s rare to come across a band with enough skill to jump genres so readily, it’s even rarer to find one that can do this while still remaining fun and fresh. Couple all these incredible benefits with the bombastic live performances that this group provides and you’ve got a winning combination. Take that combination and put it all into 1720, one of the most exciting new venues in LA, and you’ve got the recipe for an unforgettable night.
