Album Review: Orthodox – Let It Take Its Course

Orthodox is back with a new album titled Let It Take Its Course. It contains heavy and straight edge metal with a touch of rage. The instrumentation on the album is good because the band stays attune to one another. The guitar playing and vocals shine because both musical elements carry the energy that helps craft each song. In each song, the emotions can be felt due to the vocal style. Overall, Let It Take Its Course is a great album with its own musical style.

The song “Cut” is a deep track because of Austin Evans’s guitar playing. Although there isn’t a guitar solo on this track, Evans’s skills shine bright because of the heavy guitar riffs. Also, toward the end of the song, Evans does a good job of switching his guitar playing to a harmonic style. In the end, “Cut” is a great track because of the raging guitar playing.

On Let It Take Its Course the song “Leave” is noteworthy because of the vocal style. Adam Easterling does a fantastic job because of how he uses his voice to narrate the darkness in the song. Throughout the track, Easterling is talking in a low and persuasive voice and towards the end of the song, he starts to whisper the lyrics and in some ways, the whispering shapes the theme of the track.”Leave” is an enjoyable song for those who love deep, heavy metal.

Also, the song “Let It Take Its Course” is fun because of how the instrumentation is put together. The band does a great job of performing on a faster tempo with an aggressive sound. In some ways, it does seem like Orthodox is proving to people how they are still capable of playing deep, thrashing metal music and this song can cause people to headbang crazily.

On another note, the song “Obsinity” is a good track because the song introduces people to the album and Easterling’s vocals are raw with a touch of whispering.  Easterling’s soft voice brings creepiness to the song. Also, his grungy vocals add power and authority to the madness on this track. It’s a great way to start the album off.

The track “Wrongs” is a beautiful song because it shows a different side of Orthodox. The instrument playing on this track is the piano and it sounds fantastic. The piano is filled with emotions and Easterling’s vocals are filled with anguish. People who listen to “Wrongs” may need a tissue because the emotions are high strung. Overall, “Wrongs” is a great song because it displays a quieter side of Orthodox. At the core of it all, Let It Take Its Course is a great album.
