The sound of the past and future collide
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a rock album from both the past and the future? Well, German electro-rock band, A Life Divided brought that idea to life in their newest album Echoes. You can tell the band pulls influence from many different areas of music, as well as life experience in their transcendental new release. Heavy on the drums and the electronics, this thirteen-track new album has something for everyone, especially ’80s loving rockers.
The album takes listeners to outer space and “says hello” to a reflection on all emotions from happiness to loneliness to craziness in “Emptiness,” the intro track, then drops you on a disco dance floor throughout the rest of the album.
Lyrically, the band’s themes aim in on life and all of its unpredictable craziness and all the emotions that come with it. While rhythmically heavily electronic, A Life Divided still does a great job incorporating the rock elements that fans love. With heavy drums and electronics to back it up, there are some real heavy-hearted emotions sung by frontman Jürgen Plannger. This heavy-hearted album does not fall short on drums, and band member Korl Fuhrmann really gets to showcase his talent on the drum kit.
Songs like “Enemy” are also packed with some funky melodies you would hear from some of your favorite ’80s artists, that produce that good feelin’ sound that is destined to get listeners dancing, with a hardcore switch-up towards the end that fully embraces the band’s rock n’ roll roots.
This album takes listeners on a ride emotionally and spiritually, and listeners can definitely get a cathartic outlet in many songs like “Push” where the band is truly pushing and letting out all of the heat in their hearts. In finality, if U2 and Madonna had a baby, it would probably produce something that sounds like this album from A Life Divided.
