Get Weird with Yves Tumor at the Fonda on 3/13

It’s difficult to find a community in a city. You’d think that gathering roughly ten million people in such a compact area would lead to an explosion of community, but the crowds only ever made us more insular and more impersonal. Then again, this ignores the inversion of the same problem, where members of rural communities with atypical opinions and life experiences find themselves shunned from their community because of who they are.

Yves Tumor found themselves closer to the latter camp than the former. Born and raised in Knoxville Tennessee their life experience drove them into solitude where they quickly found an ability to excel in music, but just not the type of music one would expect to come out of a Tennessee home.

After leaving Tennessee, Southern California, and Los Angeles in particular became the adopted home of Yves Tumor who brought their warped sonic sensibilities to a city that could appreciate them publicly. Ever since then they’ve released some of the most exciting and riveting music of the past five years by blending noise, art pop and electronic in fascinating ways.

Los Angeles, for all its impersonal qualities, does reward those who pay it homage and this March, Yves Tumor will have a chance to show a larger crowd just what makes him special by playing at the fittingly odd Fonda. So grab some tickets and take the time to get a little weird.
