Album Review: Moloken – Unveilance of Dark Matter

Extreme metal at its finest

Heavy metal band Moloken is back with a new record titled Unveilance of Dark Matter and it is filled with extreme metal music with a twist of harmony. The vocals on each track are great because the low, authoritative voices set the emotions in each song and the harmonizing makes everything blend well. The guitar playing is fantastic because the musical sounds are filled with intense energy; the solos are great because they contribute to the madness on the album. The bass playing shines well on the record because the low rumbles can be heard vibrating on a higher pitch on most of the songs. The wild drum tempos bleed extreme metal when leaving the speakers. Overall, Unveilance of Dark Matter is a promising record and when the music is heard, people may find themselves dancing or head-banging along.

“Venom Love” is a great track because of the instrumentation. The low riffs from the bass can be heard on a high note throughout the song while the drum playing contributes to the dark and gritty theme on the track, even if they are basic. But, the guitar playing is the energy of the whole song. With deep, harmonizing guitar riffs, the guitar shines. Also, the vocal style in this song is filled with deep authority and the shrieking contributes to the darkness of the song. Overall, “Venom Love ” is a great track that is filled with a darker side of extreme metal.

The song “Surcease” is a great example of what extreme metal music is.  The guitar playing bleeds heavy riffs and brings the metal music fans and listeners want to hear. The bass vibrated with deep and low riffs that can be felt through the speaker when listening to this track. The drums are amusing on the track due to the shifting tempo throughout. The vocals on this track are perfect because the high-pitched screaming and shouting forms the extreme metal music on this track. Overall, “Surcease” promises listeners the thrill of extreme music.

On another note, a song that sets itself apart from the previous tracks is “I Still Can’t Hear You” because it displays a softer side of Moloken. It is filled with raw emotions that are felt through guitar playing. The bass shakes the whole track by creating low and loud vibrations. The lead guitar playing is emotional because the deep and loud musical sounds contribute to the sadness of the song. Although there are no vocals or drums on this track, the guitar playing can stand alone to create a dark and sad song. In the end, “I Still Can’t Hear You”  is a short and bittersweet track filled with raw emotions.

And not to mention, the song “Lingering Demise” consists of loud, harmonic metal music. It kicks off with wild metal music, then, out of nowhere, the band changes the tempo to a slower pace. Throughout the song, Moloken stays in tune with the harmonic metal music and the instrumentation is well done. When listening, a loud and grungy shriek can be heard in the background and the shrieking sounds contribute to the darkness in the song. “Lingering Demise” is a great song with a touch of harmonic music.

Also, the song “Unbearable” is a great track because of the different vocal styles. Shallow whispers start the song off, but that soon changes to full shouting and screaming. Also, another notable element in this song is the instrumentation. The drum playing is brilliant because the tempo creates a harmonic atmosphere. The guitar playing is just as good because the notes seamlessly blend in with the vibes fans and music listeners want to hear. In the end, “Unbearable” is simply a beautiful song.

Unveilance of a Dark Matter is a great album and Moloken did a fine job showing how unique extreme metal music is.
