Pop artist St. Vincent recently unveiled a cover of the intro to rock legend Jimi Hendrix’s song “Little Wing,” in a recent New Year’s Day post on her Twitter and Instagram. This track originally appeared on Hendrix’s sophomore album with the Jimi Hendrix experience Axis: Bold as Love, released back in 1967.
I’m celebrating New Years Day by misremembering “Little Wing” on a pitchy guitar. True joy. https://t.co/NRajEdZpji

The performer played the introduction of the track on her social media, where she showed off some of her eclectic guitar playing on camera. She played the track using a “pitchy guitar” to emulate Hendrix’s well known guitar reverb effects.

The performer recently teamed up with Taylor Swift for the song “Cruel Summer,” which was featured on Swift’s album Lover, which was released all the way back in August of 2019. This track featured frequent St. Vincent collaborator, music producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Antonoff, who collaborated with Swift on eight of the album’s other songs.
Antonoff has worked extensively with Swift and St. Vincent, and wound up producing the latter performer’s most recent studio album MASSEDUCATION. She released a music video for the title track of the album back in February of 2019. She also recently co-wrote a concert tour film with Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney.
