Shooter Jennings Genre Hops His Way to Pappy & Harriet’s

Living in L.A. we are all aware of the evils of driving. The impact on the environment, the addition of one more car to an already overcrowded traffic grid and increased time living the sedentary lifestyle that will eventually kill us all. But being in L.A. there is often no alternative to driving given the poor (but improving) public transportation systems, and the problem only gets worse the further you get away from Downtown.

What we aren’t used to in L.A. is having to drive very far outside of the city. As far as cities go, at least American ones, there are few, maybe none, with more going on than Los Angeles. Every night there are a million clubs, 50 million concerts and an infinite number of restaurants and free activities, so there’s rarely a reason to leave the city unless it’s for a vacation. But every so often we are reminded that out in Pioneertown there sits a lonely Honkey Tonk called Pappy & Harriet’s, which hosts some of the best concerts anywhere in the United States, and that occasionlly demands that we pack up our well weathered cars and head out to the desert.

Early in March one of these surprisingly not so rare shows heads to Pappy & Harriet’s in the form of Shooter Jennings, outlaw country icon and son of country music legends Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter. Jennings is famous not only for his continued contributions to the world of country and southern rock, but also for his genre fluidity as seen in records like  Countach (For Giorgio) which paid homage to the iconic electronic musician Giorgio Moroder.

You can catch Shooter Jennings at Pappy & Harriet’s for two special dates on 3/6 and 3/7. Just make sure you’re ready for the drive, and bring a cowboy hat or two, you might need it to blend in at the show.
