The New Regime, the solo project of Ilan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves), released the new track, “Struggle In My Bones” which is from their new EP, Body set for release on January 24 and the third installment off The New Regime’s upcoming full-length album, Heart Mind Body & Soul out this Spring 2020. The video was directed by John David Moffat. The song showcases the powerful vocals of Rubin while the guitar and drums equally drive the song forward. The meaning of the track provides depth against the beat and tempo.
Rubin recently released the first part of his album, Heart, on Sept. 6, 2019 and the second part of his album, Mind, on Nov. 22. Beginning on March 1, The New Regime will be on the road with Silversun Pickups as support for a month long U.S. tour. They will perform in major cities like Brooklyn, Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, and more. Ticket information is available HERE.
The New Regime recently released the music video for their electrifying new track “Heart Mind Body & Soul”. The video follows the release of “It’s Gonna Be OK”, a track about keeping your chin up when things are looking down; “A Way To Feel Again,” a song that deals with newfound isolation as a side effect of the digital age; and “Turning A Blind Eye”. The latter’s performance-centric video was shot while The New Regime supported Angels & Airwaves on their sold-out North American tour earlier this fall. The New Regime will also play at the Shaky Knees festival in May 2020, alongside The Smashing Pumpkins, The Strokes, The Black Keys and many more.
Rubin who is the past drummer for Nine Inch Nails and Paramore, has been described as “Nine Inch Nails’ secret weapon” and “one of rock’s most in-demand drummers.”The New Regime has shared the stage with Muse, The Killers, Nine Inch Nails, Angels & Airwaves, The Used, Juliette Lewis, Alice In Chains, and more. Back in 2008, Trent Reznor announced that Rubin was joining Nine Inch Nails as their drummer after the departure of Josh Freese. Upon learning of his skills as a multi-instrumentalist, Reznor decided to scale the latest live incarnation of Nine Inch Nails down to a four-piece, where Rubin contributed keyboards and percussion. Rubin also played with Angels & Airwaves with Tom DeLonge (lead vocals, guitars, keyboards, bass), David Kennedy (guitars, keyboards), and Rubin (drums, keyboards, bass, backing vocals).
