A month after the Flaming Lips band members Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd announced collaborative project with Los Angeles rock duo Deap Vally, the supergroup known as Deap Lips released its latest track off the upcoming self-titled album, according to Rolling Stone

The cosmic synth-driven track “Home Thru Hell,” opens with revving engines and features vocals by Deap Vally’s Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards, taking us on a journey along a dark and lonesome highway through the singers’ highs and lows.

I finally made it home thru hell

Under the hypnotizer’s spell

I finally made it home through hell

I hope I live to tell

I finally made it

The song is quite a change of pace from the group’s first single, “Hope Hell High,” an acoustic tale of recovery, with just a hint of space-travel. If “Hope Hell High” is the narrator’s intro to redemption, then “Home Thru Hell” is the climax.

Collaboration is not a new game for the Flaming Lips. Other artists who have collaborated with The Flaming Lips in the past include Miley Cyrus for the album Miley Cyrus & Her Dead Petz, Neon Indian for The Flaming Lips 2011 #2: The Flaming Lips with Neon Indian and Stardeath & White Dwarf for the album The Flaming Lips and Stardeath and White Dwarfs with Henry Rollins and Peaches Doing The Dark Side of the Moon.

Deap Lips marks Deap Vally’s first album since 2016’s Femejism. As for the Flaming Lips, King’s Mouth released last summer, while they also celebrated the 20th anniversary of their 1999 album, The Soft Bulletin.

Deap Lips self-titled album is set for release March 13.
