of Montreal Share Emotionally-Charged New Song “You’ve Had Me Everywhere”

Indie pop outfit of Montreal have debuted a new song titled “You’ve Had Me Everywhere,” from their new album UR FUN, which will be released via Polyvinyl Record Co. on January 17th. This latest track is a love song written about the relationship between the band’s frontman Kevin Barnes and singer-songwriter Christina Schneider of Locate S,1.

“You’ve Had Me Everywhere,” is an upbeat synth-pop track with quick drum beats, light synth touches and keyboard lines, creating a joyful tone and atmosphere for the song. Barnes’ vocals are eclectic blending in his unique vocal style with a heartfelt performance , that blends in well with the song’s catchy instrumentals.

“It’s one of the purest and most unguarded love songs in my oeuvre… it was influenced by the production style of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and it features an Oberheim Matrix-1000 and a Korg Prologue 8,” Barnes explained in a recent press release.

This latest track follows-up from their pet-friendly music video and song titled “Polyaneurism,” which debuted last December, and focused on an Australian Shepherd longing for its friend. This single also followed up from the band’s electro-pop protest track “Peace To All Freaks,” which condemns racism, ignorance and police brutality in its lyrics.

The band released their most recent studio album White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood was released in 2018. “The album creates a deceptively relatable feeling and continues to grow the movement of one’s willingness to put themselves out there and let their deepest, darkest feelings show to people from around the world,” mxdwn reviewer Ally Tatosian explained.
