Former Rilo Kiley lead singer Jenny Lewis just released her new song “Under the Supermoon” featuring Malian singer Habib Koité, according to Stereo Gum. The song features a pleasant country-style melody and precise vocal harmonies between Lewis and Koité over a hand picked guitar, and closes with a more traditional vocal performance from Koité. Lewis herself describes the song as, “a travelogue of sorts processed in real time… It’s a love song [that was] written in Jacmel floating in the Caribbean Sea under the supermoon of November 2016.”
Lewis is coming off of an impressive 2019; her album On The Line, received huge praise from both fans and critics, and help propel a huge slew of tour shows for Lewis last year. The album showcases Lewis’ ability to continue evolving as an artist, as elements of country and bluegrass were intertwined with indie rock to give Lewis a distinct sound different than many other similar artists.
