Over 12 million acres of land has burned across Australia, due to the recent catastrophic bushfires, killing over half a billion animals. American heavy metal band, Metallica, pledges to donate $750,000 to the wildlife relief efforts in Australia, in hopes lending a hand to alleviate the fire.

“We are totally overwhelmed by the news of the wildfires sweeping through millions of acres across Australia, with major impact in New South Wales and Victoria,” the band wrote. “The resulting destruction and devastating effects on all residents, animals, the environment and the incredible land in Australia is truly heartbreaking.”

The band mentioned they are donating the money to the NSW Rural Fire Service and to the Country Fire Authority in Victoria, through their foundation, All Within My Hands.

On top of Metallica, American singer and songwriter, Pink, has also pledged to donate $500,000 to local firefighters in Australia. The original members of the popular Australian children’s group, The Wiggles, are reuniting for the first time since 2016 to play two benefit shows in Sydney, Australia, on Jan. 17-18, at Castle Hill RSL.

Recently, Metallica has reached billion plays on Spotify for the entirety of 2019. Metallica also was ranked as the tenth highest monetary earner among all artists in 2019, making over $68 million in 2019.

Metallica is set to play at Welcome to Rockville’s 10th anniversary show in Florida, alongside major bands such as Disturbed, Lamb of God, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Godsmack, Deftones and many more.
