Danny Elfman Set to Perform at Coachella 2020

Danny Elfman has confirmed that he will be performing at Coachella 2020 in addition to the legendary supergroup, Rage Against the Machine who are playing for the first time in over eight years. The official Coachella lineup has finally been revealed and dozens of amazing artists will take to the desert in Indio, California over two consecutive weekends in April 2020. Elfman, the former Oingo Boingo frontman-turned-film composer has promised that his Coachella 2020 Saturday set will encompass everything “from Boingo to Batman and beyond.”

Elfman plays his Nightmare Before Christmas symphony shows during Halloween. He hasn’t performed at a rock concert in over 25 years due to his severe tinnitus. In 2014 he told Yahoo Entertainment, “When I stopped doing Oingo Boingo, I knew that I would never get on that kind of concert stage ever in my life again without totally destroying my hearing, what was left of it. So, there was a real, simple, clear reason to get out of that. So even though I’m finding myself once again on the concert stage, standing in front of an orchestra is way more controllable. Orchestras are not that loud when you’re standing next to them. You don’t hear about conductors going deaf because orchestras are too loud. So that’s been an interesting way to get back into doing some performing.”

With Rage Against The Machine, Travis Scott and Frank Ocean as the Coachella 2020 headliners, the event over two weekends will not disappoint. Other artists who will be performing at the festival include Caribou, FKA Twigs, Thom Yorke, Lana Del Rey, Run The Jewels, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Charli XCX, Big Sean, Fatboy Slim, Swae Lee, Code Orange, Brockhampton, Idles, Weyes Blood and Rex Orange County.

In 2018, Elfman scored the soundtrack for the film, Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch where Tyler, The Creator also created the track for “You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch.” Elfman has written over 100 feature film scores, as well as compositions for television, stage productions and the concert hall.

Elfman has worked with directors, Tim Burton, Sam Raimi and Gus Van Sant and has done the scores for 17 of Burton’s films including Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo; Raimi’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, and Oz the Great and Powerful; and Van Sant’s Academy Award-nominated films Good Will Hunting and Milk. He wrote music for all of the Men in Black and Fifty Shades of Grey franchise films, the songs and score for the Burton-produced animated musical The Nightmare Before Christmas, and the themes for the popular television series Desperate Housewives and The Simpsons.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
