Bon Iver was scheduled to perform his Come Through shows with the dance company TU Dance this year, with dates in Houston, Nashville, and New Orleans, in February. Those dates have now been cancelled, “due to circumstances outside our control,” as Bon Iver posted on his Twitter feed.
Iver shared, “Due to circumstances outside our control, all upcoming performances of Come Through have been cancelled. These decisions are never taken lightly by the Bon Iver team; our deepest apologies to fans who’ll miss out on these performances. Bon Iver will be back to your area soon. All tickets for these shows will be refunded at point of purchase and these performances will not be rescheduled. This cancellation only affects the Come Through shows originally scheduled in Houston, Nashville, and New Orleans at the end of February. All other remaining Bon Iver tour dates are still scheduled as planned.”
The cancellation comes on the heels of the dancer and choreographer Uri Sands who stepped down as co-artistic director of TU Dance, the acclaimed Twin Cities company he helped found, amid allegations of sexual harassment of a former employee, according to a news release Tuesday. His wife and co-founder, Toni Pierce-Sands, will continue to lead the organization as artistic director. “We believe Mr. Sands’ resignation will help TU Dance move forward in providing a safe and healthy environment for all,” a news release said.
Sands was sued by a member of TU Dance’s board over alleged sexual misconduct involving a female former employee between 2015 and 2017, and “negligent supervision.” His attorney Sara McGrane says that while Sands and the former employee had a “sexual relationship,” he, and TU Dance, denied the accusation of misconduct or harassment. Jeff Anderson, attorney for the former employee, said his client was “sexually exploited” by Sands, and that the alleged misconduct she experienced included “nonconsensual sexual intercourse.”
Bon Iver released their most recent studio album titled i,i this year as well. The project has been described as “a journey to be undertaken, not something to dig for meaning within, tune in, drop out, let the trip carry you somewhere, we promise it’s a good one.” Bon Iver is scheduled to play The Way Out West Festival in Gothenburg, Sweden at Slottskogen Park from August 13 through August 15, 2020. The show will include an all-girl feminist punk group Bikini Kill, FKA Twigs, Khalid, Boy Pablo and renowned house DJ The Black Madonna.
