Rou Reynolds, lead vocalist and keyboardist of English alternative rock band Enter Shikari has announced an upcoming album from the band, according to Kerrang. This will be the band’s fifth studio album since their formation in 1999, and, according to Reynolds, will be the band’s “definitive” work.
When Enter Shikari first formed, their sound was incorporated around the blend of metal and grunge elements that were prominent in the late 1990’s. However, throughout the last two decades, the band’s sound and style has shifted more and more toward the implementation of electronic instrumentation and production, and their use of electronics in their music has allowed them to reach broader audiences around the world. Enter Shikari’s upcoming album should be expected to nearly fully combine elements of metal and alternative rock along with electronic instrumentation ambient stylings.
Reynolds stated in an intreview, “I wasn’t really sure where to take things next, but there’s a real plan starting to form. There’ll be tracks on there that wouldn’t sound out of place on Take To The Skies or Common Dreads. There’s some heavy stuff, some euphoric things… the synths and guitars are bolder on this record.”
He continued on, “We’re trying to make the definitive Shikari record; the one that a fan would pass to their mate like, ‘You don’t know Shikari? This is where you start.’”
Enter Shikari has transformed and evolved their sound as a band since their inception in 1999. Through their combination of rock influence and electronic-forward style, the band has found themselves penetrating the top charts in their come country of England.
