The xx Are Working on a New Album

Prominent indie rock band The xx have announced that they are working on new album, which they revealed in a recent post on their Instagram. This next album would be the band’s first project released since I See You, their third studio album release which came out back in 2017.

“Looking forward to 2020!” the musical trio posted. “We’ve all been working on new music, can’t wait to share it with you! Hope you have the best new year!”

The band consists of  guitarist and vocalist Romy Madley Croft, bassist and vocalist Oliver Sim  and producer Jamie Smith, better known as his stage name/production handle Jamie XX who is in charge of the band’s rhythms and all electronic sounds they use. The xx often straddles the line between indie pop and electronica, blending in elements of dream pop and electronic rock into their music. Their music of utilizes soft, echoed guitar, prominent bass, light electronic beats and ambient soundscapes as their backing instrumentals.

Their self-titled debut, xx was a massive hit, and was supported by the success of tracks such as “Intro,” and “VCR.” Their subsequent album Coexist, spawned the bands arguably most popular single “Angels,” which debuted at number 2 on the UK indie charts.
