Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts Rock SoFi Stadium on 9/5

We’ve spent more than our fair share of time opining on California’s, and more specifically Los Angeles’ relationship between the old and the new. Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time here knows that L.A. is deeply horrible at holding onto its history. Ancient buildings and restaurants are readily paved over to make way for the next new and exciting thing. In the same breath we can be loathe to let certain things go. Any single trip to Hollywood is bursting with the studio worship that has gone on to ruin cinema as we know it. The strangest is when we mash the old and new together, as SoFi Stadium, the new home of the L.A. Rams (and Chargers) welcomes Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Poison, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.

SoFi Stadium will be, at the point of this concert, the newest most state of the art stadium in the NFL, with its only real competition coming from the new Raiders Stadium in Las Vegas, but that isn’t in Los Angeles so we can pretend it doesn’t exist. That aside, the stadium is being purpose built to house concerts in addition to sporting events, and the semi enclosed style of the venue itself is sure to let in only the best elements of the Southern California weather.

Normally this is the point where I would dive into the history of each band but given the level of fame each individual band enjoys I feel comfortable just telling you that you should get tickets. This kind of lineup is unheard of, and if you don’t like any of these bands, first of all, shame, and second of all go get a ticket for your father who 100% likes all of these bands very very much. Sure they’re gonna be pricey but you’re never going to get a shot like this again, a perfect time to apply a “live your life” philosophy to the new decade.
