Billboard has been making some changes within their tallying for their album charts. It was recently revealed that YouTube plays will affect the album charts. The calculations will consider official track streams as well as music videos presented via VEVO, TIDAL and Apple Music, excluding “user-generated content” or cover videos. Along with this rule, merchandise bundles will also be taken into account. All of the items in the merchandise bundles must be available for purchase concurrently and individually on the same website to count as album sales. Both rules will be in effect January 3rd, 2020.
