The annual Dimebash: All-Star Jam has announced the first participant of the 2020 lineup, which is Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters who’ll lead a night of remembrance for “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, the late co-founder and guitarist of Pantera and Damageplan. This event will take place on January 16, at The Observatory OC in Santa Ana, CA.
Dimebash: All-Star Jam 2020 will be hosted by Sirius XM’s Jose Mangin, and will feature an opening performance from WhiskeyDick, a metal/honky-tonk musical duo. The partners for this year’s event include Metal Blade, Dunlop Manufacturing, Dean Guitars, BackBeat BBQ, and Affliction, while proceeds from the event will be used to benefit music education and animal rescue.
“This year will mark the 15 year anniversary since Darrell was taken from us…even more of a reason to come together with friends and chosen family to honor the man that brought so much love and laughter to our lives…not to mention some pretty sick tuneage!!! If you’ve never experienced ‘the room’ at Dimebash, it’s something you can’t describe – the love, the unity, the smiles, the magic,”Dimebag’s longtime partner Rita Haney stated in a press release. “It’s a special kind of vibe you have to check out at least once for yourself. Then you’ll almost know what it’s like to have Dime physically in the room.”
This year’s event saw many musicians from genre spanning groups such as Foo Fighters, Slipknot, Anthrax and Cypress Hill play classics from beloved bands such as Pantera, KISS, Slayer and Iron Maiden. The 2019 concert featured Corey Taylor, Rex Brown, Scott Ian, Charlie Benante, Dave Lombardo and more.
UPDATE (1/14): Dimebash has announced more details about the special guests that will be appearing. Jose Mangin and Riki Rachtman will host the event, while members of Bad Wolves, Anthrax, Cypress Hill, Crowbar, Hatebreed, Hellyeah, In Flames, In This Moment, Lita Ford, Sebastian Bach, Prong, Sepultura, Stone Sour, The Haunted, Testament, Tyr, Dylan Rose, Iron Maidens, Kill Devil Hill, King Diamond, King’s X, Lamb of God, Kyng, Pearl, Cody Jinks, Butcher Babies, Broken Hope, Bad Guys Wear Black, Armored Saint, Act of Defiance, Accept and more will participate.
