Wilco Takes the Stage at the Orpheum Los Angeles on 4/1 and 4/2

Chances are most of you reading this are younger than Wilco. That’s not a value judgement, hell, I myself am only barely older than the band, and certainly not old enough to understand their power and influence through cultural osmosis. The band formed in ‘94 and by ‘95 had already reached prominence with their album A.M.. This acclaim stretched even further in 2001 with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot an album that received numerous critical accolades including one of only a few 10/10’s from Pitchfork.

In 2004 the often tumultuous lineup of Wilco stabilized, and ever since they have been semi-reliably, quietly releasing records. In 2015 specifically they were considered to have made a return to form with Star Wars but if you were to ask me their biggest success since YHF would be 2019’s Ode to Joy, which is an upbeat, delightful record that should be slotting its way into many a year end list if it has not already.

To promote Ode To Joy Wilco has hit the road to begin touring the record. This tour includes stops at numerous European festivals as well as most major American cities. The most important of which, for our purposes, is Los Angeles. Wilco will be taking the stage at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles on 4/1 and 4/2 but if you miss them they’ll also be playing the Palladium on the 5th. Just because you may not be old enough to truly appreciate the influence of Wilco doesn’t mean you can’t appreciate all the great music they’ve made.
