Nine Inch Nails Plan to Record New Album and Tour in 2020

Despite embarking on a massive three-record long soundtrack for the HBO series Watchmen during the recent months, Nine Inch Nails have no intention of slowing down. In recent interview, the group’s frontman Trent Reznor announced that the upcoming tour and album are a “template” regarding his plans for the next year, with very few details being given about the project and tour.

Reznor gave details regarding his future musical projects in an interview earlier this year, where he discussed the Watchmen project and the soundtrack for an upcoming Pixar film titled Soul.

“Right now, we are finishing up ‘Watchmen‘, and we’re working on the Pixar film [‘Soul‘] that we are doing,” Reznor explained. “And we have plans for Nine Inch Nails stuff, but we haven’t got down to doing it because literally every minute of the day for the last several months has working on score stuff. But the plan is to do stuff, yes.”

Reznor, and his fellow Nine Inch Nails band member Atticus Ross released the Watchmen Soundtrack in three parts, with each vinyl cover hosting a different theme, and each hosting its unique share of Easter eggs for the show.  Volume One, is set up to look like an album by Sons of Pale Horse, the in-universe band that took inspiration from Rorschach’s journal, which is filled with Easter eggs referencing Rorschach and Volume Two, is designed to look like the soundtrack for American Hero StoryWatchmen’s show-within-a-show which features Hooded Justice on the cover. The final volume is set up to look like a release from a fictional band called The Nine Inch Nails, as opposed to simply Nine Inch Nails, and features Dr. Manhattan on the cover.
