Mija Release Cover of Crystal Waters’ 1991 Hit “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” and Announces Winter 2020 Full Band Tour Dates

Electronic music producer and DJ Mija has released a cover of Cyrstal Waters’ 1991 deep house classic “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless”, which will be featured on the upcoming House Kitsuné America compilation. This upcoming compilation is a tribute to tracks made during the golden age of house music during the 1990s.

The producer will also begin her MIJA(LIVE) tour next year, where she is set to perform live with a full backing band. This tour is expected to begin next February 27th in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Turf Club, and will finish off at the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, Oregon on February 18th.

Mija’s version of “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless),” is spacier than the original, filled with more open synths sounds layered on top of one another as opposed to the classics sampled piano lines, against a slower dance beat, in a style similar to the works of Kaytranada. The close of the track explodes into a dancier rhythm, as she sings the songs famous “La da dee la da da,” over a pounding bass and beat

The DJ released the deep house influenced track “Sweat It Out,” back in July, which was accompanied by a music video. In March Mija also released new song titled “Stay A Little Longer,” which featured JR Slayer. She has also ventured into more experimental territory this year, releasing a 24-minute long version of her song “Notice Me,” which was released ahead of her brief Band Practice tour this past summer.
