The Nergal led solo project Me and That Man has released a new music video entitled “Burning Churches” which features guest vocals from Grave Pleasures singer Mat McNerney and was released today via Napalm Records. The music video for this new song is animated and directed by Oliver Jones of Better Feeling Films.
The new song takes a slight western spin, with strong blues guitar chords, accompanied by acoustic guitars and McNerney’s folk-like vocal delivery, which is complimented by the cryptic and religious imagery from the lyrics. The music video shows a masked figure, which looks to be inspired by characters such as Zorro, burning a Church with molotov cocktails.
“If someone would have told me one day, I’d release a Xmas song, I would have burst into laughter. Hell freezes over and I present to you, ‘Burning Churches’. This time I team up with Mat McNerney from the legendary Beastmilk, Grave Pleasures, DHG and Hexvessel,” Nergal expplained in a press release. “Make yourself comfortable around the Christmas tree, stoke the fire and grab yourself a drink! Hallelujah.”
Nergal is best known as the frontman for the Polish extreme metal band Behemoth, which formed in 1991. The band released their most recent album I Love You At Your Darkest earlier this year.
Me and That Man released the track “Run With the Devil” with an accompanying music video earlier this month. This track featured Jørgen Munkeby of Norwegian Blackjazz collective Shining and was directed by Roman Przylipiak, while taking influences from Quentin Tarantino’s pulp style.
