Heavy metal godfather Ozzy Osbourne has debuted semi-autobiopgraphical music video, from his upcoming album release Ordinary Man, which will debut on Epic Records in 2020. This latest music video was directed by Jonas Åkerlund, who has worked with groups such as The Prodigy and Metallica, and stars Jack Kilmer appearing as Osbourne and Jessica Barden as his wife Sharon.
This video explores Osbourne’s time in West Hollywood during 1979, a period in his life which was rife with bouts of excessive drinking, partying, sex and drug use. The piece documents how the singer’s wife Sharon searched for him, and helped him recover from his inner turmoils. Musically, the track takes a typical late Osbourne sound, highlighted by softer melodies and the singer’s voice, which sounds as strong as ever.
“For ‘Under The Graveyard‘ Jonas developed the story into a ‘mini movie. But, to be quite honest, it’s hard for me to watch because it takes me back to some of the darkest times in my life,” Osbourne explained in a recent statement. “Thankfully Sharon was there to pick me up and believe in me. It was the first time she was there to fully support me and build me back up, but it certainly wasn’t the last.”
Ordinary Man is set to feature Post Malone producer Andrew Watt on guitar, Duff McKagan of Guns N’ Roses on bass and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers on drums. Although the performer has postponed his 2019 tour, and postponed his 2020 European tour, he made surprise appearance at a Post Malone concert in November.
