The Inkcarceration Festival has announced its 2020 lineup, featuring nu metal band Limp Bizkit, alternative rock band Weezer and pop punk band Blink-182 as this year’s headliners. The music and tattoo festival has expanded into variety of alternative rock, nu metal and metal genres this year, featuring performances from a diverse array of bands such as Mastodon, Halestorm, Attila, Papa Roach and Band-Maid, who will all perform in Mansfield, Ohio from July 10-12. Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
This event takes place at the Ohio State Reformatory, a former prison which was in operation from 1896 until 1990, when it was closed down by a federal court ruling. The location was made famous from the film The Shawshank Redemption, which had a majority of its scenes shot in the prison. In addition to the multiple music performances, the event will also host numerous tattoo artists from across the country and several prison tours as well.
Earlier this year Mastodon unveiled their plans to finish up work on new album this past fall, which would serve as a follow-up to their 2017 album Emperor of Sand. This project has not had any further updates, although the band has been touring since this announcement.
Weezer debuted their latest LP release The Black Album earlier this year. Weezer’s ability to pen a catchy chorus saves this album from total disaster, and nearly every song is hummable. Also, Cuomo’s youthful and innocent approach to lyrics is at least interesting on a personality level,” mxdwn reviewer Mark Young explained. “However, the sounds are simply too safe and saccharine to recommend. Weezer’s The Black Album cannot be called art and barely deserves the title of entertainment.”
