Electronic music producer Amon Tobin has debuted the first new music in 23 years under his pseudonym Cujo, which was used to debut his first album Adventures in Foam back in 1996. The tracks, titled “nine bars back,” and “early for clink street,” respectively take a a slightly IDM tinged approach, recalling the breakbeat and trip hop inspired sound of his debut project. These two tracks will be exclusively released to fans via the Nomark Club on December 20th.
The first track “nine bars back,” begins with a string sound and eclectic instrumentation, before the beat comes in, sampling a variety of vintage instrumental horn, bass and guitar sounds. The track is an eclectic blend of trip hop and downtempo, taking many influences from international music.
His next track, “early for clink street,” takes a more relaxed approach with spacey synthesizers, more relaxed drums, and a jazzy keyboard. The track fits in more with the style of nu jazz and downtempo with a more ethereal experience, as opposed to the highly rhythmic and eclectic sounds of the previous track.
Amon Tobin has had a busy year, releasing a variety of eclectic projects from the post-rock inspired “Monkey Box,” as Child Tyrant earlier this year, to the more club oriented sounds of his Two Fingers track “You Ain’t Down.” The producer has also debuted couple of albums this year under his own name such as Long Stories, back in October and his album Fear In Handful Of Dust during the first half of the year.
