Kanye West recently debuted his second opera entitled Mary earlier this year at the Miami Marine Stadium, as part of Art Basel Miami, where he and his crew donned themselves in metallic-silver paint from head to toe for the entirety of the show, and reworked his hits such as “Devil in a New Dress,” “Love Lockdown” and “Power.” The performer is now set to bring this performance to New York City this Sunday December 22 at the David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center.
This upcoming performance will be directed by Vanessa Beecroft, and is a follow-up from his previous opera Nebuchadnezzar, which made its debut at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this year. As with all of West’s recent performances, West will be accompanied by his Sunday Service collective.
Nebuchadnezzar starred rapper Sheck Wes, best known for his 2018 song “Mo Bamba,” and featured an interpolation of the track “Wolves,” and tracks such as “Say You Will,” “Our King” and “Wash Us In The Blood.” West is sldo currently set to perform at Joel Osteen’s Night of Hope at Yankee Stadium next year, which follow his performance at Osteen’s megachurch earlier this year.
Earlier this year West tweeted a picture with famed hip hop producer Dr. Dre and stated that the sequel to Jesus Is King is “coming soon.” Dr. Dre has been a longtime icon to West, who has cited the rapper’s late 1990s hit “Xxplosive,” as one of his inspirations to become a music producer early on in his career.
