American rock band, Pvris, released their new music video for their song “Old Wounds,” on Dec. 10. Their song is featured on their EP, Hallucinations, released earlier this year in Oct.
The video starts by showing one man and one woman, completely covered in red, staring intensively at each other, as a background of a galaxy circles them. They peel the red skin off of each other, showing a metallic-like silver color, under their skin. The synth melody sound sets the mood.
Vocalist, Lynn Gunn, sings as the skin-peeling takes place. The mystical synth matches her voice, and the beat drops, causing a shift in the video.
The red humans are shown with wings, and leaves growing from their fingertips. The man is leaning back, as the leaves grow from his hands, and the woman holds him, as her wings are open, as if she were protecting him.
“I think I could love you ‘til the day that you die,” Gunn sings. “If you let me love you when the timing is right.”
Gunn’s voice gains power as the red humans continue peeling each other’s skin. By the end of the song, they both are completely silver. The metallic color is the highlight of the scene, and Gunn is slowing borrowing underneath the leaves and vines, as it constricts her body. At the end, the metallic-silver people, whom were once red, are crowing each other as king and queen.
Earlier this year Pvris played at the Loveloud music festival in Jun, alongside Laura Jane Grace, Tegan & Sara and many more. The festival is dedicated to the LGBTQ+ youth in efforts to raise awareness and acceptance. The festival donates to a variety of different LBGTQ+ charities around the country.
Pvris is set to play on Dec. 15 at The Rave/Eagles Club, in Milwaukee, WI, at 7:30 p.m.
