Of Montreal released a new video for “Polyaneurism” which features the story of a brindle colored dog that’s in love with an Australian Shepherd with the beautiful eyes and gorgeous coat. Unfortunately, the shepherd becomes enamored with a black lab and creates jealousy in the heart of her beloved. He yearns for his longtime best pal, his favorite girl (dog) after she leaves him. He even spies on her as she coasts along in a boat on a lake with her new beau. The lyrics are perfect, “IDK, I cannot say, can I be chill with this? Something about open couples doesn’t feel real serious. I guess all the same I’m poly-curious. Playing musical lovers is starting to feel kind of kitsch. If you want monogamy are you just like some basic bitch? I guess it’s just whatever current sitch. I guess it’s just whatever current sitch, oh.”
The video is very life-like creating a human experience in the life of dogs. The poor wounded pouch has hurt feelings and even snuggles in his bed having dreams about his girlfriend pooch, while lyrics to the fun-filled song beat on. “Can’t keep up with the girl. She’s not mine, though. She’s not his either. Messy in love with the girl. I’m guessing the T. Is that she needs variety, oh, oh. I can’t keep up with the girl.”
Formed by frontman Kevin Barnes in 1996, Of Montreal is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. The band has adrenalized style behind dark lyrics that distinguish them from other pysch-pop bands. The band always believe in love and peace. Of Montreal had to drop their performances at Meteor Festival in Israel last year, because they chose to protest against the brutal and murderous policies that the Israeli government continued during the time. The band shared that they have nothing but love for the peace loving citizens of Israel as well as the peace loving citizens of Palestine.
Barnes recently released an electro-pop protest song “Peace to All Freaks” and now “Polyaneurism.”After several albums recorded with collaborators and various band members, Barnes opted to record this one completely alone. In his home studio in Athens, Georgia, Barnes isolated himself in creative hibernation, working obsessive 12-plus hour days arranging manic synth and drum machine maps on a computer screen with bouncy, melodic basslines, glam guitars and layered vocal harmonies. The result is ten concise electro-pop songs that expose the depths of his current life, his private thoughts, both optimistic and brooding and his passionate relationship with songwriter Christina Schnieder.
Of Montreal’s latest album was White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood which was released last year via Polyvinyl. Based on extended dance remixes, self-love and a failed marriage, White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood is an album for the people. Proceeding their surprise EP, Rune Husk in 2017 and the full length album, Innocence Reaches in 2016, Barnes decided to switch things up. Instead of a classic take on live band recording, he took a new approach at making music through remote collaborations with Zac Colwell, Clayton Rychlik and JoJo Glidewell.
