Nigel Godrich, Laura Bettinson, Joey Waronker of Ultraísta Sign With Partisan Records and Announce 2020 LP on the Way

The band Ultraista recently signed with Partisan Records and plans to drop an LP in 2020, their first release in over eight years. Ultraista includes vocalist/producer Laura Bettinson (FEMME, lau.ra), multi-instrumentalist/producer Nigel Godrich (Radiohead, Thom Yorke) and drummer/producer Joey Waronker (Beck, R.E.M., Atoms for Peace). The group’s self-titled debut is now available digitally across all platforms as a special deluxe edition, which collects all of the remixes (Four Tet, Prefuse 73, Matthew Dear, Chvrches, Maribou State + more) that were originally released in 2013.

Godrich says, “We made an album a few years ago and we have another one coming out next year. To start the preparations in the run up for the whole thing we are re-issuing our first record… Hooray! Everything we’ve ever made, including loads of tracks you might have not actually heard before, bootleg remixes and other stuff…on a deluxe edition. We’re essentially three pals who get together and make music for love and we just did it again. We are also super excited to be working with the amazing team at Partisan Records on both this release and our new record next year.”

Ultraísta were founded on mutual love of Afrobeat, electronic and dance music, visual art, and tequila, and take their name from the early-20th century Spanish literary movement Ultraísmo. Nigel Godrich is known for his work with Radiohead, having produced all their studio albums since OK Computer (1997) and most of singer Thom Yorke’s solo work. In an article Godrich describes his love for music, “A recording studio is a magical place. When you have the benefit of hearing what happened right before a take that you know so well, the chit-chat, your heart flutters, because it gives you a feel what it was like to be there for a second. When I was a kid and in a band, I went into a studio and I felt the magic. I was spellbound. I knew that this is the place I wanted to be. It’s really a laboratory. There are no rules.”

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
