Fresh off Helmet’s 30th-year-anniversary tour, frontman Page Hamilton announced highly-anticipated musical project which will be released in the following year. According to Theprp, Hamilton will feature in the new M’lumbo album Fairytale Aliens, which is set to release on March 20th, 2020 via Ropeadope Records.
Founded in the late ‘80s by Robert Mbotto Ray and Zombie Ron Boggs, M’Lumbo is a giant musical circus performing in the arena of multi-genres. The off-the-wall jazz group pushes the boundaries of rock, electronic, psychedelic, jazz and more. At the beginning of its foundation, the musical group was dedicated to run away from creating music for commercial use, and then gradually grew into a collective music joint, including frequent collaborators, Hamilton, Jane Ira Bloom and Gary Lucas. Over the years, the American musical group has released five compilations; their most recent album dates to 2012’s Tuning in to Tomorrow, featuring Robbie Ray, Vince Velso, Jaz Sawyer & Cecil Young.
Hamilton’s jazz talent previously showed on the cover of Dizzy Gillespie’s “Beautiful Love.” He is also the major contributor to the versatility of Helmet, combining rock and roll with uneven and jazz-like signatures and harmonies.
To support the new album, Hamilton will join M’lumbo’s performing act at the Bowery Electric in New York City, NY on March 21st. As a six-string guest, Hamilton previously performed on the same stage with M’lumbo at the Knitting Factory, Brooklyn in 2012 to celebrate the album, Popular Science.
