Comedian Hannibal Buress, best known for his work with the Adult Swim program The Eric Andre Show, has announced the inaugural Isola Fest, which is set to take place this December 13-15 in Isola, Mississippi. Buress has announced several artists who will perform at this last-minute festival, including Flying Lotus, T-Pain, and Open Mike Eagle.
The comedian explained on Eventbrite that the festival will take place in his mother’s hometown, which is known for its quiet atmosphere. He also referenced the short notice of the festival, and compared it to the infamous Fyre Festival in a statement sent to Pitchfork.
As Buress explained:
“I’m having a festival December 13-15th in rural Mississippi. That’s kind of short notice but I’m good with it. Isola is short for Isolation. I know this sounds like some Fyre Festival part 2 type situation but we have things pretty much in order. Our sandwiches are just as equally trash as theirs though. Some things you just can’t control. This is the town my mother’s side of the family is from. My cousin owns a venue called Playaz Palace so I’m getting a deal on these nights. The lineup is gonna be great. T-Pain, Flying Lotus, Open Mike Eagle, Eryn Allen Kane, Serengeti, and Khris Royal are all performing. It’s going to be a great time.”
Flying Lotus released his most recent studio album Flamagra earlier this year. The project hosted slew of guest features including Toro Y Moi, Little Dragon, Anderson .Paak and David Lynch. The producers hip hop moniker Captain Murphy was pranked by Buress this year during the Adult Swim Festival.
Open Mike Eagle released a music video entitled “Extra Consent,” featuring Lizzo. His most recent album What Happens When I Try To Relax was released last year.
