Composing duo Atticus Ross and Trent Reznor have released a single teasing the third installment of HBO’s Watchmen soundtrack, “The Way It Used To Be,” according to Consequence of Sound. The song is a classic jazz ballad in all of its glory, with soaring alternating horn melodies to open the tune, a big band playing perfectly balanced harmonies to support the lead, and a crooner beautifully singing the lyrics throughout the song.
HBO’s Watchmen is currently captivating audiences worldwide, and the Nine Inch Nails duo has been providing great ambience to accompany each and every scene. As the events of the show take place during multiple different time periods, the soundtrack is complete with music covering a wide variety of genres, from big band jazz standards to complement the scenes taking place in early 20th century America, to tense building music that covers suspenseful action scenes in present day. Nine Inch Nails are eligible for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020, so the duo could be trying to further their case through this widely praised soundtrack. Nine Inch Nails are set to release a reissue of their 4th studio album, With Teeth, according to SENTIREASCOLARE.
