Parts of Chris Fehn’s Lawsuit Against Slipknot Dismissed

Former Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn has had part of his lawsuit against the band removed, according to Lourdwire. The judge in the case decided that Slipknot’s former business manager Howard Shore could not be singled-out in an individual capacity by Fehn in his legal action against the heavy metal group.

“This is done against Mr. Shore. You have replied. He’s out,” Judge Crane concluded to Fehn’s attorney. “RSA [Robert Shore Associates] is likely in but I’ll render a decision on the 3rd. And I’ll try to get everything ruled on from the bench.”

The remaining motions made by Fehn are set to be concluded on January 3, 2020. This recent motion also uncovered motions filed by the band’s percussionist Shawn Crahan, the band’s vocalist Corey Taylor and several Slipknot-related companies registered outside of New York state, which are seeking dismissal for “lack of personal jurisdiction.” Several New York-based Slipknot corporations named in the suit are also seeking dismissal “for failing to state a cause of action.”

Fehn filed a lawsuit against the band back in March, “alleging that he was not fairly compensated for profits from touring and merchandise. [He] apparently accused his bandmates of setting up multiple business entities instead of funneling all the profits through one single company to be split among the band members.”

The band has denied any wrongdoing in this case, although it did cause some tensions between the band’s fans. In response to a fan addressing the issue on social media, Taylor stated “You think that’s dickish, try being wrongfully accused of stealing money from someone you cared about, and having a lot of your fans believe it.”

Back in July Fehn announced he was continuing his suit against the group, which the band have tried dismissing in court.
