Kvelertak Sign to Rise Records and Announce New Album Splid for February 2020 Release

The Norwegian heavy metal band Kvekertak have announced a new album entitled Splid, which is set to be released on the band’s new label Rise Records, on February 14, 2020. In addition to the new album, the band have debuted the project’s first single entitled “Bråtebrann.”

“Bråtebrann,” is accompanied by a brief visual, showing different art concepts for the upcoming album cover, showing a marked figure in different shots, jumping from color to black and white. This upcoming track is a blend between heavy metal and more melodic rock inspired instrumentals, with very melodic riffs, rhthmic drumming, and changes between shouting and melodic vocal sections.

“We are very excited that our new album Splid will be released through Rise Records and we look forward to being a part of the Rise family in the coming years,” the band stated in a press release. “Splid (“discord” in English) is a deep dive into western gluttony, our own stupidity, and the abyss of the earth.”

This upcoming project is set to be the band’s first new album with their latest singer Ivar Nikolaisen, who joined the band back in 2018, following the departure of Erlend Hjelvik. Troy Sanders of  Mastodon is also expected to appear on the upcoming album for the track “Crack of Doom.”

“The experience of building a successful band has been fun and rewarding but has also been equally intense and challenging. Over the years, this has taken its toll. As we’ve been developing personally and professionally, our individual goals, needs and motivations have changed, leading us in different directions,” Hjelvik explained on social media regarding his departure. “Though it is a heavy decision to leave a life I’ve been living and breathing for the last decade, I feel happy and excited to explore new possibilities for the future.”
