R.Kelly’s current girlfriend, Jocelyn Savage, has now opened up about her relationship with the singer. After supporting Kelly throughout his trial, Savage is now speaking her truth. According to CNN, Savage began writing a series of posts on Patreon, a crowdfunding membership platform. Savage alleges that Kelly led her to believe he would help launch her career as a model and singer, even recording songs with her. She also alleges that Kelly limited her relationship with her family. She writes “I couldn‘t talk to my parents in private sometimes,” the post reads. “I was told what to say on the phone to them.”
According to Pitchfork, Kelly got Savage pregnant twice, and each time she had an abortion. “It’s scary having your first child and aborting them because of some monster that kept me as a prisoner,” she stated.
Steve Greenberg, responded to Savage’s post, saying she is “exploiting her long time, loving relationship with Robert … It was not until the money ran out that she decided anything was wrong.” The tweet was later removed.
Savage’s mother, Jonjelyn Savage, spoke to ABC’s Good Morning America this past weekend about why she thinks her daughter was ready to speak out after years of silence and defending R. Kelly. “She’s ready to tell the truth. She’s came out with statements that we have been saying for the last two and a half years and it’s pretty accurate. I believe one of the primary reasons that she has the courage to speak up is because she knows he’s actually in jail.”
Kelly’s next trial date is set for May 18th, 2020 in Brooklyn, NY. Kelly is accused of racketeering, kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a child.
