Popular metal music festival, Fire In The Mountains, announced Nordic extreme metal band, Enslaved, as the headlining band for their 2020 summer music festival, on Jul. 11 and Jul. 12. Ivar Bjornson, guitarist of Enslaved, was simultaneously announced as the first curator for the festival.

“We are very inspired to be working directly alongside Mr. Bjornson in creating an experience to match its incredible surroundings,” said the festival. “His curation involves a selection of hand-picked artists, as well as other elements to be revealed over time.”

Enslaved recently released their album, E, in 2017, and will be playing songs from across their entire discography during the festival.

“Our Northern hearts rejoice as we are part of this announcement for Fire in the Mountains 2020,” the band said. “To come to these beautiful parts of good ol’ Vinland and headline an outdoor festival is nothing short of a dream come true.”

The festival will be taking place in the wilderness bordering the Grand Teton National park, and surrounded by the Rocky Mountains in Jackson, WY. The festival permits attendees to camp overnight, providing rental tents and various forms of lodging.

“I have decided to name my curator showcase ‘On Wings Over Utgard’,” said Bjornson. “Inspired by the coming Enslaved album.”

On Nov. 13, Enslaved re-signed their record deal with Nuclear Blast Worldwide and debuted their music video for their new single “What Else Is There”. As of right now, there are no further details on the exact release date of Enslaved’s upcoming album.

“A lot to look forward to, next summer at the Grand Tetons,” the festival said. “We have so much more to share. Keep an eye here, and we will see you in the mountains.”
